The Alpha S First Choice

Eva:

What am I doing here? Why would I do something like this? Can I really handle the aftermath of my (or rather my wolf's) actions? It took us months to build this comfortable distance between us where we were just Dan's parents, why am I disturbing the equilibrium?

I stood rooted to my spot, not moving a paw, as I watch him disappear only to reappear in his wild form. He was waiting for me to make a move.

I really wasn't in my senses when I decide to take this path; I blame it on my wolf's overflowing emotions. Now what?

I should let her handle it; she is the one who brought me here after all. I let her take over entirely.

She moved towards him in quick strides. The woman has no grace *rolls eyes* or patience. The good thing was that Liam must be equally if not more embarrassed right now because his giant wolf was growling and jumping up and down like a little pup drooling at his favorite candy. *smirk* It doesn't look like he has much control over his animal.

She stopped in front of him and he didn't waste a second before striding over and burying his face in her neck. My heart jolted in shock at the contact. Pleasure clouded my senses. I was thankful that I wasn't in my human form at the moment; my moans were coming out as low growls.

I know I said I will take the back seat and I also know that they were reuniting after almost half a decade, but really, how far should I allow this to go? She was literally melting under his touch. Will she listen to me if I said no? Hell, can I say no in this state?

I stirred, trying to come back to my senses but his possessive snarl stopped me from pulling away. He moved even closer and trapped my forelegs in his'. He looked into my eyes, bared his teeth and let out a loud howl.

NO.

So many things happened in that one moment. His black eyes blazed in hunger. He quickly brought his teeth to my neck; my wolf eagerly gave him easier access by moving her head. I was trying hard to regain control and shift but I was in his firm grip and my wolf was in no mood to move away. I was giving up when I felt his weight jump away from me. One moment he was on me and the next he was tumbling down the opposite slope. He was shaking violently all the way before he shifted back and ended up at the bottom of the mountain almost near the end of the pack's territory.

My wolf let out a howl before rushing to him. He was lying on his stomach, his face buried in the grass, by the time we reached him. He was huffing in exhaustion.

She nudged his neck with her nose. Really? After all that happened, she still wants him to finish what he was about to do? Did she forget all the promises we made to each other. She was still in daze. God, is it even possible to be sad at being betrayed by yourself? Coz I sure was right now.

He looked up after steading his breath. His eyes were still dark. He attempted to give her a smile, the effort of which were made visible by the protruding veins of his neck "I'm fine" he managed to say before sitting up and pulling his legs to his chest. I should move away and give him some privacy but my wolf has pledged to do the opposite of what I want today.

She stood there looking at his face hungrily. Her eyes were still clouded with desire. (I know you've waited long but can you please not be this obvious?)

He let out a moan before his hand moved to my face (or is it her face? I don't know, alright. Since I can feel every bit of it, it's my face as well). He placed his hand softly on my jaw and looked back with equal intensity.

"You are gorgeous" he said in a heavy voice, his eyes shining under the moonlight. My wolf purred and moved closer to him. His other hand automatically flew to my neck; he softly ran his hand through my fur and smiled "and you aren't making it easy for me to control my animal"

My wolf buried her face in his neck, inhaling his scent. His soft locks were tickling my senses and for the nth time tonight, I'm glad that it's not my human form.

"You have to calm down mate" he whispered "I'm here. I won't ever go away. I promise" His chin was now resting on my shoulder as mine rested on his "I'll always be next to you when you need me. I'll do whatever you want me to do. I'll be whatever you want me to be."

He pulled away. Holding my jaws with both his palm, he looked into my eyes. I could feel his reassuring touches and words slowly calming my wolf down "I'm yours" he said "in whatever way you want me" he smiled "Are you ok now?" my wolf leaned to his touch in response "Then shall we go up?" he questioned "......ummm.....umm.... I guess you'll have to go up first. I'll follow you, I promise" he assured; his face red.

I blushed (thank god, he couldn't see me), detangled myself from him and started to climb back. I looked back after a while and he wasn't there. My wolf was about to panic but Liam came running out of the dark forest in a pair of shorts. He was holding, what looked like a shirt, in his hand.

"I'm here" he said with a smile. Satisfied, my wolf started climbing again; he was running next to us.

Once we reached the top, we stood awkwardly facing each other. I was finally in control. I should probably get going. This was totally not what I came here for.

I was about to turn away when a piece of cloth was shoved under my nose. I looked up to see Liam holding the shirt from earlier in his hand and looking at me nervously.

He wants me to shift? But I had no plans of shifting or talking to him today. I shifted in my room and climbed down the window before I arrived here for a reason, and I was planning to shift back only when I was secure within the four walls of my room.

I looked at him and then back to the shirt. Whatever. I grabbed it by my teeth and moved towards the darkness. I shifted quickly and threw the shirt over my shoulder. It was large. I buttoned it up and walked out.

Liam was sitting comfortably along the edge of the slope; his face was tilted up as he continued to stare at the moon. I sat down at a considerable distance from him.

I cleared my throat to get rid of the awkward silence.

"I'm sorry" he immediately said "I should have controlled my wolf better" He looked genuinely ashamed. He must have tried really hard to stop things from going that far.

"No" I smiled sheepishly "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have come. It's just tha-" I stopped midway when I saw his expression harden. Oops!

"Are you ok?" he asked softly "Did something happen at home?" he looked curious.

"No....nothing serious.... really" I smiled awkwardly "She....mmm..... was just a little jumpy today. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I shouldn't have encroached upon your personal space. I disturbed you." Yeah that was me trying to do the damage control, build back the broken wall.

He closed his eyes and looked away "I'll be happy to be disturbed like this" he whispered.

I pretended like I didn't hear that "I should get going" I yawned "I'm really sleepy after all the craziness" he chuckled.

I stood up. He tilted his head to look at me, his face looked so content, his eyes twinkling, my heart skipped a beat "Good night" he said softly.

"Good night, Alpha"

-------

Yeah, so faking a yawn doesn't bring sleep anywhere close to you. After running wildly through the woods last night, I climbed my window to land in the familiar safety of my four walls. But the relief didn't last long, I realized that I was still in the shirt that Liam gave me and it was soaked in sweat. I decided to wash it and quietly place it back when Liam wasn't there.

I spent the rest of the night assuring myself that it was a one-time thing.

Last night will never ever be repeated. I was this close to being marked. The thought of what could have happened had he marked me makes me shudder. Never again. Never.

"Hello" Ray clicked his finger in front of my face.

"Yes, yes. I'm listening" I said coming out of my trance

"You were? I don't think so"

"I was. I was thinking, I need to inform them that we wouldn't be able to make it for breakfast" I wasn't entirely lying when I said that.

"Ok" he looked expectantly at me

"Ok what?" I said beating the eggs with all my concentration.

He face-palmed "Give them a ring then"

"Oh! Hold this" I shoved the bowl to him and grabbed my phone.

I usually text Liam about Dan's details but today, I was finding it really uncomfortable to contact him directly. I need to get over it though.

"Yes. Yes." I nodded at Luna's continuous chattering "Dan will be there for lunch" with that promise, I ended the call.

"Done?" Ray asked. I nodded "So, can we talk about last night now"

"What about last night?"

"I don't know" he pretended to think "About you huffing and puffing back into the house in the middle of the night in just a shirt. A very wet shirt. I mean I'm not complaining about the view but I really would love to know how I ended up getting to see that view" I slapped his arm.

"Shut up. Why were you up that late?" he shrugged "My wolf..... I mean umm..." he was still not comfortable imagining me as an animal "She wanted to go for a run. And since you are here, I thought I could go out in the night without worrying about Dan"

He coughed awkwardly "So, she runs in a shirt?" Oh, so now he was curious?

"No, she doesn't. We keep clothes in the forest."

"That definitely wasn't your cloth" he laughed "Whose shirt did you steal?"

My face heated up. Was it Liam's or did he pick one from where people keep their clothes? "I don't know" I said honestly "but for you kind information" I glared at him "I plan on putting it back to where I took it from"

"Ok, ma'am" he surrendered.

"Now stop disturbing me or you'll be late for work"

----

Ray will be going to work directly from here. He brings his work clothes when he has a sleepover.

I was currently shoving him out of the door. He's always late. I'm really afraid that they will, one fine day, kick him out of his job.

Dan was dangling by Ray's arm in his school uniform.

"Ray get going already" I yelled as I push him towards his car "You are going to make both Dan and me late for work."

"Daddy" Dan yells from Rays arms.

I looked up from the hard task of pushing Ray only to see a pair of cold green eyes staring directly at me; none of the warmth or softness of the night before visible in them.

"Alpha" I acknowledged him.

He nodded "I came to pick Daniel up for school"

"Ah yes" Ray spoke up "I'll get going then"

Dan tightly held onto him "No no no"

"I'll be back soon, big boy" Ray assured him before handing Dan over to me.

Liam was standing next to Ray's car. We walked over to him. They greeted each other politely. Liam and Ray were the most awkward creatures together. I mean they lived in the same house for almost a month. They bickered day and night back then, but then suddenly shifted to polite 'hellos' one fine day. It's the most awkward thing ever when two people who don't get along well, decide to be civil with each other.

After giving one final kiss to Dan, Ray took off. Dan waved until Ray's car was no longer visible. He then quickly jumped from my arms into Liam's. That little devil, he knows how to make the best of both the worlds.

"I'll bring his backpack" I said to no one in particular. Really, no one was listening. All of Liam's attention was on Dan's weekend adventure stories.

I brought Dan's essentials and handed it over to Liam.

"Well....ummm..... I'll drop him off after lunch then" he said.

I nodded.

He nodded back.

Yeah! Life was back to normal.
