Road To Jannah

"At the end of the day, I am at peace because my intentions are good and my heart is pure."

_______

*Two years later*

"Now tell me what are your aims?" Rida asked the first standard students.

"Doctor." came the first answer.

"Pilot."

"Barber." the class giggled.

"Driver."

"A Qur'an teacher." a student said and everyone laughed at her.

"Do you all know who is the best person?" she asked witnessing the class laughing at the girl.

"Noooooo ma'am." the class echoed.

"The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it."
Sahih al-Bukhari 5027.

"Really ma'am?" a girl asked and Rida nodded her head indicating a yes.

"I want to be a Qur'an teacher too." raised a hand and before the period was over, every little one in the class wanted to pursue to be a Qur'an teacher. How innocent were kids, if the elders were explained and warned, they wouldn't heed while the kids were the opposite.

"I won't be teaching you all after the summer vacations. Will you all miss me?" she asked the children when they were ready after packing their bags and happy to leave the school for two entire month.

"Why ma'am?" they asked hastily.

"We will miss you ma'am, please don't go." Rida had a quite hard time explaining her kids about the leave, they were sad and so was she.

After shifting with Abdullah, Rida had joined the same school with him. Watching her dear husband struggling for the sake of Allah, made her enthusiastic to do it too. These two years passed quickly as if she was married him just yesterday.

"Assalamu Alaikum." was the farewell greeting to her students.

"Rida ma'am, Abdullah sir was asking for you." informed a female Co worker to her.

"Ohh where is he?" she asked.

"I went out for some work and there he asked." said the teacher.

The male and the female section of the school was entirely divided. The female section just had the female students and female staff while the male had the opppsite. No male was allowed to enter the female section and vice versa because of hijab purposes.

"Okay jazakillahu khaira."

"Wa anti fa jazakillahu khaira." she said and went away.

"Rida ma'am, Abdullah sir is calling you outside." came a girl to inform her while Rida mentally face palmed herself.

What was wrong with him today?

"Tell sir to call me, I've some work."

"Okay." she said and went running away with a heavy bag on her shoulder.

"What is it Abdullah? I've to talk to the Principal and have tons of work." she said as she answered the call of her husband. She had realised that Abdullah had been calling her since the school was over.

"Assalamu Alaikum."

"Walaikum-us-salam." she replied calmly. She had been stressed but his one salam soothed her heart.

"I just called to tell you that we would be leaving after Asr today, in case you don't know."

"Why?"

"Today is the last working day and we need to wind up everything. It is principal's order by the way." he informed.

"Ohh okay. I had lots of work anyways." she replied.

"Did you eat anything? Should I bring anything to the masjid?" he asked.

After the school was over, the teachers went to the masjid to offer their dhuhr prayer. There was a small masjid between the female and male building.

"No. I have fruits, I'll eat it." she said and they departed through their phone to meet later in person.

The time soon went by and finally the Asr adhan was called off from the masjid. The teachers winded up their work and went to offer their Salah in the masjid. The teachers went away after offering their Salah and that is when Abdullah met Rida in the parking lot.

"Assalamu Alaikum." he was again the first one to greet while she was waiting for him indulged in her mobile. She greeted back with tiring eyes.

"Tired?" he asked.

"Very much." she replied.

"What are these?" he asked when he saw some papers in her hand while they sat in their car.

"I informed my every class that I would not be coming to school now and boom, until the last period, they were loading me with goodbye cards." she said smiling whilst looking at the cards.

"You were tensed when I called you. What did the Principal say at your resignation?" he asked while driving out of the premises of the school area.

How does everytime he detects her mood and also the reason?

"Nothing she gave me a lot of duas for a prosperous life ahead and she was glad that I was a part of the institution." she replied.

"She's really nice."

"Yeah."

"You know Musa is now a Hafiz Qur'an." she said all of a sudden remembering few things she had to tell him.

"Subhan Allah. May Allah bless him and preserve him. What about Isa?"

"Appi said, he's still a juzz away to memorise the entire Qur'an." informed she.

"May Allah make it easy for him."

"Yusuf is not well these days." added Abdullah.

"Yeah ammi told me. May Allah grant him Shifa." said she.

"Oh by the way, I heard Sidra is getting married." informed Abdullah.

"Really? Subhan Allah. May Allah give her all the happiness of this world and the hereafter." said Rida.

She looked outside the window to hide her pain away from Abdullah. Sidra never came back to Rida as a friend. She had stopped calling Rida or sharing anything of her life and after a point of time, she stopped picking up her calls. Rida could do nothing but pray for her well being. She had realised that not every relation resumes just like the old ones, not everyone forgives, not everyone is the same when it comes to relieving grudges and not every love is pure. The love that is for the sake of Allah never vanishes and that kind of love is rare, whoever acquires it has indeed caught a gem. Rida was glad that her sisters had patched up again and she wondered if she would resume her friendship with Sidra just as them.

In a world where malice and grudge was common, she made sure that she sprout the seeds of compassion and mercy. She made sure that she never held animosity towards anyone and forgive them, because it relieves not just their souls but cleanse ours too.

One of the reason of her change was the man sitting beside her. She looked at him while he was focussing on the road, murmuring something under his breath, either the evening adhkar or revising the surahs he had memorised.

He had made her realise that our happiness doesn't depend on others but our happiness is within us. It is we who need to find that Happiness and there's nothing which leads us to it except when we move closer to Allah. The contentment of being closer to Allah can never be understood by someone who is far away from him. She had understood that taking care of few things would make her content in this life.

1) Firm Iman makes us happy because it gives us certainty that nothing would happen to us except Allah's will. No matter how bad the circumstances are, the will is all Allah's and whatever comes from Allah is all good. Iman increases and decreases so it should be nurtured with good deeds, the more the good deeds, the stronger is our Iman.

2) Doing good to the creation by words, deeds and by all means which has a good reward from Allah. And the good reward from Allah is the elimination of grief and anxiety.

3) Occupying ourself with some activity or the other to ward off anxiety. A believer and a non believer seems to be on this same scale but it is not so because whatever a believer do is with sincerity for the sake of Allah and his worldly actions benefit him here and also in the hereafter.

4) The greatest means to achieve tranquility is to remember Allah as much as one can because "In the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest." [Al Ra'd: 28]. If a person has anxiety then Dua is one of the sources of satisfaction as we are asking the one who holds the future.

5) Thinking about the worst possible thing at the time of difficulty wards of much worries and mentally preparing onseself for difficulties makes one more strong and removes the pangs of pain.

6) The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said "A believing man (husband) should not hate a believing woman (wife) : if he dislikes one character in her, he will like another one." [Muslim]
This hadith teaches us that whoever we have relation with, they will possess bad qualities along with the good ones. Sometimes they will hurt us with their imperfections but it is upon us to look beyond their bad qualities and focus on the good ones. This brings peace and harmony to the relationship and maintains the ties of kith and kin, thus making us happy and free from grief.

7) And our thought is subservient to us, whatever way we diverge it, it goes along. So it is upon us to focus on the positive and leave the negatives.

[Taken from the useful ways of leading a happy life by Sheikh Al Sady]

"Close your eyes and sleep." he said caressing her cheek as he noticed her to be in deep thought.

She closed her eyes and tiredness of the day made her doze off as soon as she closed her eyes.

Two years had passed but she did not dream about Rehan, the dream in which he left her while the dream was common for her when she was divorced. She dreamt it last time before her nikah to Abdullah and that's how she was directed to marry him.

"Are you okay?" came a voice.
She looked around to see her cycle on the ground and beside it was Abdullah lying on the ground with a bruised elbow and knee smiling at her.

"I am okay but you are not." she hastened to point out his wound which he acquired while saving her.

"I am fine until you are fine." he replied and she smiled.

"Come on, I will teach you how to overcome obstacles." he said and picked up the bicycle and trained her until the sun started to decline.

"You won't need anyone now, you can lead your way without anyone's help." said he at the dusk when he finished training her.

"Please drop me to my destination and don't leave me alone here." she insisted.

"Which Road should I take for your destination." he asked while she sat behind him on the bicycle.

"ROAD TO JANNAH."

Her eyes flew open as she felt a touch of a hand on her cheek. She smiled as she looked towards him and revived her dream for a while.

"We've reached." said he and she looked around to step out of the car.

"Wait. Where are we? This isn't home." said she as she observed her surrounding.

"This was a surprise."

"Really?" she said enthusiastically as they stepped out of the car.

"This is beautiful." she said as he directed her towards the little pond.

"Just wait for the sun to set, the scene will be breathtaking." said he. They sat dipping their legs together in the pond, silently observing the nature for a while.

"You know when I was away from you after our nikah, I used to take refuge in this place. Ofcource nothing can replace you but this place gave me tranquility and offering salah in this peaceful place is a bliss."

"Seriously? Why did you not bring me here before?" she questioned.

"Umm I forgot plus it was your susbstitute and when you were here, it was all forgotten." he said scratching his head.

"Ahh. But why did you bring me now?" she asked.

"Because there's nothing I can give you in return of what you are giving me except that I can keep you happy." said he and she shyly smiled.

"Yesterday when you told me that we'll soon be parents, I really was overwhelmed. So I thought to make you happy just as you made me happy, of course that happiness has no measure which you gave me but yeah something had to be done. So here are you."

"Jazak Allahu khairan, I loved it."

"Wa anti fa jazakillahu khairan, I love you more."

Soon the sun began to decline and she was dazed to look at the alluring nature while he was looking at her with a pleasure of Contentment.

If someone asked her if she was willing to change her past a few years back, she would have emphasised the word 'yes' but now she never wants to change what has gone by in the past because a bitter past made her a better person. If it was not the test of this world, she would be completely different from what she's now, a stronger person. She was glad that life had taught her to be stronger enough to face the future difficulties and pushed her more closer to Allah. There were times when she could give everything to change her past but now she agreed with the decree of her beloved Rabb. A sign of contentment is to be content with the past, no matter how regretful it was.

No one on this earth lives without a test or tribulation but the important thing is how one reacts to it and carry oneself through it. Sometimes life is hard, but the good thing about hard time is that it is never constant. It changes and our Rabb promises us, not once but twice that "Indeed, with hardship is ease. Indeed, with hardship is ease." (Surah Ash-Sharh 94: 5,6)

A/N

Assalamu Alaikum.
Just a simple rant. I won't take much time.
Jazakumullahu khairan for all your support, especially those who had supported me from the beginning of this book until today. Votes doesn't matter much because I am not here to get a lot of votes but just to convey good lessons so don't worry even if you are not a voter, if you were a reader, I am obliged to you and yes you are counted in my duas. Honestly I wouldn't have written this book if y'all wouldn't have motivated me because life is indeed busy. I owe you all much. May Allah guide you all to the right path, keep you all firm and give you all the success of this world and the hereafter. And if I benefitted you in any way then please remember me in your Duas often, I need them so much.

Just a small message to those who want me to continue writing: sorry I won't be able to continue writing because in near future life is going to be busy². I don't say I am quitting writing but sometime in life, when my bones turn feeble and there's a lot of free time, then I would turn to write again in sha Allah.

Till then Take care. I leave you in the care of Allah, where nothing is lost.
