Road To Jannah

Chapter 8

Umm_Hurairah

"Choose friends whom you are ashamed to sin in front of instead of friends you are hesitant to worship Allah for the fear of their criticism."

_______

"How do you always end up taking these things when you can't do it all by yourself?" Sidra, Rida's best friend stated as they sat on the bare cold floor working on something together.

"I am not good at saying no." Rida said scrunching her hairs in disappointment.

"Next time I'll talk to her and say a clear no." Sidra chided as she held a paper to cut some flowers from it.

"Nooo." Rida protested as she sighed "she's a sweetheart beside the thing that I don't like this work of hers."

"Okay then, I am not going to help you next time." Sidra said coldly which made Rida feel helpless for the next time she would have to do this all alone.

There was a neighbour of hers who was an event manager and sometimes she had less hours with more number of works and so she used to ask Rida for help which was okay during the first and second time but when she asked again and again, Rida felt tired of it but nevertheless she couldn't say no despite of her dire willingness.

As Rida and Sidra discussed about the headache, Hana came with a tray full of junk food for the night over of girls at the house and as she saw the two girls working on the floor, she sat keeping the tray beside them.

"May Allah subhana wa ta'ala bless you people immensely for helping the poor soul." Prayed Hana that hit Rida as the cool breeze gently came along at the same time. Rida had this habit which could be labeled bad as well as good that she was easy going and would go along whatever people said. If she's in the company of good then she'll be all good but to her bad, she would sway away with the bad people too. Nevertheless she always tries to be a good muslimah but sometimes would end up disappointing herself by disappointing her lord.

"Appi I don't want to do more, I am tired of doing these."

"Why? Help people when you find yourself in a situation to help others. Help! Because you know how it feels to be helpless. Allah loves when a brother in faith helps the other and don't forget that it counts when you do good even if it carries a weight of an atom."

"Hmm you're so right appi. Whenever I meet you, you always end up giving me positive vibes." Sidra chirped and Rida nodded her head as she held herself guilty of those previous words she uttered.

People aren't bad, it's just the shaytan who tricks them often to be pessimist towards small situations leading them to the bigger one, all it takes a good a companion to turn them towards Allah. Oh how wonderful is the company of such believers.

"Did I miss something?" Iqra's head popped up from behind the door as she walked in with a glow as she saw the tray full of snacks and sat while picking up a sour candy and greeting her Salam.

"Did you ask khalu for staying here?" interrogated Hana as an elder sister to which Iqra shook her head.

Iqra was their first cousin as well as neighbour and so they shared a bond which was more than a cousin, more than a neighbour. Iqra was an year younger than Rida and as they shared almost the same age level, they were more than friends.

"I swear I was about to have a heart attack as I was coming here and the street light blinked. The first time it blinked, I started walking fast but as soon as it blinked the second time I came running like I've been running to win a marathon at the international level." Iqra said with a slight horrific face which made all the others amused.

" I think the jinn was following you." Sidra said biting her lips in horror to which Iqra's eyes grew wider.

"Iqra you shouldn't have come here, we're all in danger now." Rida said as she gazed up her eyes from Iqra's face towards the door while the door opened with a creak sound.

Iqra who was sitting facing Rida and her back was facing the door slightly turned her face in horror as she clutched Hana's hand tightly and before she could turn her head completely, she closed her eyes and returned back not willing to look towards the door.

She was in such terror.

"Mamma." Came a cranky voice.

"Oh my Goddd, it's a baby jinnie calling Iqra as her mom." Rida exclaimed wait a shriek.

And as the face of Iqra turned more horrible than those who are seen running because of ghosts in a movie, a crying voice came and the little jinnie, precisely Asmah ran towards her mother.

"You people wait till I die and then turn into ghost and scare the hell out of you people." Iqra yelled after having a sigh of relief and everyone laughed at her reaction.

Growing up together, everyone knew that Iqra was afraid of darkness and being alone at nights. She would freak out while watching horror movies and the things which made everyone hardly afraid, she was the one who could faint any moment watching them.

Hana excused herself as she had to put Asmah back to sleep while the three were left with jinn talks. A night stay without discussing about jinns would obviously be incomplete.

"You know yesterday I was watching a video on Instagram in which a jinn overpowered a girl because he liked her and disliked when her husband use to come near her and then they went somewhere for Ruqyah. The jinn was way too powerful and refused to leave her body.. Wait let me show you people." Sidra narrated the story as the eyes of the two friends grew wider.

"No way. I won't look at it." Iqra scoffed as she turned her face away from the mobile screen and the two friends bit their lips from smiling when the window of the room opened up due to wind.

Perfect timing.

"OH my Allah, did the jinn hear us talking about them?" Rida said feigning terror.

"I think he would be right there standing." Sidra said pointing towards the right side of the window.

As the two friends were in a mission to terrorise the hell out of Iqra, Hana joined in a while after making sure that her kids were peacefully sleeping.

"Imagine the jinns listening to our conversations and having their own conversations like 'Oh I wasn't standing there but there', 'Oh I wasn't in a mood to scare Iqra but you know I had a fight with my wife and was sitting grief struck while Iqra passed by and then to enlighten my mood, I had scared her. Haha. She was pretty a coward girl.'" Rida uttered in a low voice as the face of Iqra turned red in horror as well as anger.

"Appi." She cracked her voice in a high tone and before she could grasp Rida to take her revenge, Rida said "Shhh the jinns much be sleeping." to which all the three gave a hearty laugh which was suppressed until now but then couldn't control when Iqra went mute at Rida's warning.

"Okay girls I have a very interesting and real story to narrate." Hana said and everyone keenly turned their faces towards Hana as they were sure that if she said then it would hundred and ten percent be true.

"So there's a sister in law of my sister in law, she was quite afraid of jinns and stuff like our Iqra is..." as Hana said Iqra narrowed her eyes towards Hana but when Hana continued, she left it for later.

"So when she was newly married and shifted to her in laws place, people there told her that there was an old school in neighborhood which was locked from decades because jinns or ghosts were witnessed there and sometimes people would hear weird voices at night. So once it was a Friday midnight while she went to drink water in the kitchen and there... "

"There what?" asked Sidra as she gulped in the intense atmosphere.

"There she saw a figure from the window, dressed in all white roaming in the garden and after a while it halted and looked towards the window. She was so horrified that she, at once fell on the ground unconscious. Later when she gained consciousness, the scene was narrated to the in laws. And then what happened was unpredictable." Hana said as she shook her head in disbelief. The girls were so much engulfed in the story that neither of them stood up to close the window as it chattered along the wind making the atmosphere intensely horrified.

"When she narrated the story, her father in law who was sitting on the sofa stood as he knew something about what she narrated and said 'I couldn't sleep this night too and I went outside in the garden to have a walk and few minutes later I saw someone standing by the window and...that was me, the actual ghost who was clad in all white costume. I can't believe it's a week since she's married and I am appearing as a ghost to her.'" As Hana spilled out the actual truth, the echo of everyone's laughter was heard after the silence which had made them curious.

"You don't need to worry Iqra, the Jinn cannot touch you in any way except that Allah wills. So always be careful with your duas and all." Hana said as Iqra nodded recovering back from the last hilarious moment that Hana narrated.

"Okay girls." Rida cleared her throat leaving her work for a while and continued as she looked at Hana "I've called you people here to tell you all something."

"What is it? I thought you called me to help you out with this?" asked Sidra curiously.

"Not really." Shrugged Rida.

"Then?" Iqra questioned.

"It has always been between me and Hana appi and we disclosed it to none but since Ayesha appi and Hana appi had literally fought because of it.." Rida stopped to see Hana and Hana simultaneously looked away with a pained expression, she said "I gave it a thought that you people should know as you two are my best friends although Hana appi still thinks that it should not be revealed as you know it's a.. umm.. a sin and sin should not be disclosed." Rida sighed as she trailed off.

"You people committed a sin?" Sidra asked with a wave of shock.

"It's just me." Rida sighed.

"Appi every sin that we commit is not bigger than Allah's mercy. I am sure Allah will forgive you." Iqra assured Rida as she nodded.

"So..?" Sidra raised an eyebrow.

"So I was in school.. umm.. I must be in class fourth or fifth when this started. We use to have our lunch break in the school ground while our bags would be in the class and each and every day when I use to come back to my desk after the second assembly, there would be a surprise for me in my bag. Those are the best memories which I cherish." Rida said as she closed her eyes for a while and the surprises flashed in front of her eyes." After a while she opened her eyes and found everyone's gaze on her as she dismissed her thoughts and recomposed herself back in the atmosphere.

"At first I would be annoyed as to who keep those surprises for me but then slowly and gradually I started loving it. It took like whole three years actually to start liking it." She said giving a blushed smile.

"Three years?" Iqra gasped.

"Who kept them?" asked Sidra, her eyes wide.

"Sabr." Rida smiled.

"Sabring." Cracked up Iqra.

"However there were no signs of anyone appearing to me all these years. Then later when I completed my tenth class and moved to another school, one fine day I got a message from him and then finally he told me that it was he who actually kept those surprises and I felt so giddy that time. I was overwhelmed when I found out that it was none but one of my best friend... Oh back then I didn't know that we cannot actually have male friends." She was quick to give a reason for her actions while looking up at Hana to which others nodded.

"Then we use talk over phones, have chats." she stopped to grin as she revived her thoughts and continued "we use to have that small phones with no whatsapp and all."

"You really didn't know it's haram?" asked Sidra as she couldn't believe that once Rida survived with a haram relationship.

"Not until Hana appi found it out and told me to abstain from haram love but still I was adamant to what she said because I was not into Islam so much. Every time we sat alone, she held my hand and told me not to do this because it will not just ruin my akhirah but also our parents. Then there came a time when she stopped doing it and actually started working on my Deen, she brought me closer to Allah and then I started understanding her perspective. She assured me that I and him could be together forever with halal love if I tell him to bring the proposal at the right time and abstain from talking." Said Rida as the grief of her past could be seen all over her face.

How unethical it is that we end up disappointing a person who constantly help us strive against disappointing our Creator and how pleased we are with the ones who help us disappointing our Lord. How unethical!

"Then?"

"Then what? I deleted his contact and asked him to be a man and bring the proposal to my dad." Rida said smiling.

"Was it easy?" Sidra asked.

"Urgh it wasn't. Ask me about the toughest job of this world and I'll say it's asking the one you love by your complete heart, to go away from you because you want a better Akirah for that person."

"Aww." chirped Sidra.

"I'd say that waking up for 8' O clock class is still the hardest job." Cracked up Iqra as she picked up a chocolate chip cookie from the tray.

"And I'd say that nursing a child is harder than your 8' O clock class. When your cranky kids wake you up at the middle of the night and you wake up with one eye closed while changing the diaper of your kid and then later you find it out that the diaper of the kid that you changed was not one who actually needed it but the other twin who was actually crying beside him." Hana sighed while the other three laughed as Iqra made it sure that she wouldn't have any kid, at least not twins or triplets and later when she found out that even one kid entertains you with sleepless nights, she got back to the idea that marriage wasn't her thing.

As Rida gulped down her glass of juice, she went through the messages she had received in a while. She went through the Question and answer session of the group as she noticed that the Queen was already declared whose name was habeebti

The answer of last question is Camel.

Al-Bukhaari (814) and Muslim (850) narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever does ghusl on Friday like ghusl for janaabah, then goes to the prayer (in the first hour, i.e., early), it is as if he sacrificed a camel. Whoever goes in the second hour, it is as if he sacrificed a cow; whoever goes in the third hour, it is as if he sacrificed a horned ram; whoever goes in the fourth hour, it is as if he sacrificed a hen; and whoever goes in the fifth hour it is as if he offered an egg. When the imam comes out, the angels come to listen to the khutbah.”

The next question is "Who are those 70000 people of the Ummah who will enter Paradise without being called to account?"

As Rida typed her answer and jumped up to other messages, she realised someone unknown had dropped a message. Her heart skipped a beat at the thought of who could it be. Whenever someone from unknown sources pinged her, her mind would go across the valleys of love she had once lived. Dismissing her thoughts she typed a reply.

Unknown - Hey.

Rida- Whose this?

"But when will he come back with a proposal?" Sidra asked her as Rida kept her phone beside her.

"I don't know, I just don't know until when will he test my patience." said Rida with a sigh while her mobile beeped up with a text signal.
