Road To Jannah

Chapter 41

Umm_Hurairah

"Someday I'll say it was not easy but I did it, in sha Allah."

_______

People mostly quoted the words like "wedding is held once in a lifetime" but to some people it wasn't true and so was with Rida. It was the day of her second nikah, who knew that she'd clad in another bridal dress after the first one. In fact no one knows what our future holds because it lies only in the hands of Allah. If only people knew about the future, if only people could change it, if only people would have not taken that decision, if, if, if. How many times in our life we use this word 'if'. If only had we acted such and such way, such and such would not have happened.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although both are good. Strive for that which will benefit you, seek the help of Allah, and do not feel helpless. If anything befalls you, do not say, "if only I had done such and such" rather say "Qaddara Allahu wa ma sha'a fa'ala (Allah has decreed and whatever he wills, He does)." For (saying) 'If' opens (the door) to the deeds of Satan.'" [Ibn Majah: Book 1, Hadith 83]

Nobody knows what will be the consequences of their act, but whatever happens, it happens by the will of Allah. Whatever good or bad happens, it is by his decree and taking precautions against any eventuality will not prevent what Allah has decreed from taking place. The hypocrites quoted such statements when the believers were martyred in the war and rejection of Allah's divine prrordination is a sign of hypocrisy in belief. In fact belief in Allah's preordainment is a cure for what ails the heart and leads to mental peace and stability.

Allah says in the Qur'an "No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allah, is easy - In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful." [Surah Hadid: 23-24].

She had prepared herself to forget the past and move forward without uttering the word of disbelief. She had sealed the things in a box which reminded her of the past, ready to begin the new journey of her life.

"Rida, the Qazi will be here in five minutes. Are you ready?" asked Hana as she came in.

"Yeah I was just keeping these things. I am ready." said she as she wiped her tears.

"Are you nervous?"

"Ofcourse, if I said 'yes' then it would be an understatement."

"In sha Allah everything will be alright. Have good hopes from Allah." replied Hana.

"That is why I am doing this. I have good hopes from him."

"That's like my girl, now come on let's go." said she and after an hour the nikah was done, the girl was asked her consent in her home whilst the nikah was concluded in the nearby masjid.

There was no one except the family of Rida and Abdullah to accompany them in their new journey of life. They wanted a blessed nikah and so they avoided to call anyone from outside plus the nikah dates had been arranged so quickly leaving no room for guests to come. Since the nikah was after mafgrib, Abdullah's family was invited for dinner. The men came back from the masjid after maghrib whilst the women were engrossed in their chitter chatters.

"Ab-lullah, did you mally Lida?" said Asmah while she tugged his pant from below. He was sitting amongst the men of the house and since he was less concerned with the topic going on and more concerned with the topic of 'Rida', he picked the little one and made her sit on his lap.

"Yes. Who told you?" asked Abdullah intrigued by her question.

"Mamma... See..." she said and thought for a while before speaking again "promise me one thing."

"What?" he chuckled at her.

"You will not make her cry, or else...."

"Or else...?"

"I won't let you take her. Don't be like Le-han." she said while pointing her finger backwards to which Abdullah chortled.

"I promise you. Can I take her now." he said giggling in between.

"Okay. Now come." said she like a big old woman catching his hand and dragging him out of the room.

"Asmah wait..."

"Ammi told me to take you to youl blide." said she while dragging him upstairs towards the room of Rida.

Abdullah was surprised with Asmah but at the same time a mixed feeling crept into his soul. He was finally going to meet his beloved, after all the sacrifices he had done were worth it.

"Go." she pushed him and ran back downstairs screaming in enthusiasm something which Abdullah didn't understand or his mind was focused on something which he didn't want to share it with something else.

He knocked before going in and saw her sitting facing the opposite side of the door, he closed the door behind before taking a step, and that is when she stood and turned towards him.

After years of yearning, he saw her, dressed in a dress he had dreamt to see her, in a white and peach coloured bridal dress which looked elegant on her. He had seen her after much struggle and now he couldn't believe his eyes, that she stood there being his only wife. For some days, he had lost, the hope of being with her but now she was all his.

For a reason he couldn't control his emotions and despite of being just happy, his eyes were bleeding. No wonder she had grown beautiful but there's something which he couldn't find in her eyes. Those sparkling eyes which lit up everytime with happiness was not happy in the moment of joy and she had grown weak. That's when the reality hit him. She had struggled through a lot in life and those struggles have taken away the happiness from her. His hands reached his mouth when his eyes were no longer dry watching her's cry.

When they were best friends during their school life, every little things were shared among them. Both shared every trouble of their life with each other but as they grew, Islam stretched the gap between them and hence they were separated. But the same Islam was now the reason for their meeting.

They both cried standing on the opposite side at how life turned upside down for them and yet by the grace of Allah, they were now standing beside each other. Abdullah moved forward and pulled her into a hug to calm her down and while doing that he made sure that he read some Duas.

"Are you fine?" he said pulling her apart and she smiled forcefully while tears were still visible in her eyes.

"May be I just missed you all this while and when I saw you as my mahram, I just couldn't control and turned emotional." said she as she slightly puffed her tears from the cheeks.

"May you always find home in me." said he and she looked up to meet her eyes with his and caught him staring delightly at her.

"What?" she said.

"You can't ask this from a husband who is looking at his wife." said he as he didn't blink an eye.

"You're staring." said she as she shifted uncomfortably under his eyes.

"Rida." said he as he caught her both the hands with his and sat down below her while she was sitting on her bed.

"I want you to know this very keenly." said he assuring by squeezing her hands.

"No matter what has happened in the past, no matter what people say, I believe in you. May be some people will come up reminding you of the past but just remember, I don't care what they say. I only care what you think of me and I only care about your peace. May be I wasn't there to save you in the past but now I am your protector, I am your soldier. If anything bothers you, just tell me without any hesitation, if you do not like any of my habits, just say it and I will try to change them but please do not keep it in your heart. I know sometimes life is hard and wallahi you don't need to pretend, just let it out. Know that I am here to listen every single word of yours, even if it sounds crazy. You don't need to pretend around me, if you are going through it in silence doesn't mean you have forgotten it. Okay? And always remember that no matter what, I love you and will always love you in Sha Allah." said he because he knows how depression kills people from inside who don't share it with others.

"In sha Allah I will try to give my best in this relationship. I just want you to know that sometimes you may not like me, but please don't leave me alone. If you want to marry someone else, you can, I'll just stay with you as the other wife but don't drown me again in the water which I have struggled so much to survive." said her insecurities.

"Why will I marry someone else? I already have such a big bride to tackle with." he chuckled to which she smiled.

"Now tell me why did you put that condition between us?" he said turning his tone into a serious one whilst sitting beside her, not leaving her hand for a minute.

"I just can't explain." said she jerking her eyes twice in exasperation.

"Ridaaa."

"It's just that I need some time to live with you. You don't know monkey how hard life had been. I just can't go into someone's life and start living with this condition. I don't want people around me to feel sad. Just give me some time, I'll come to you soon in Sha Allah. There are many reasons which I can't explain now. Just give me some time. And of course I need time to get settled with you until then we can do halal dating."

"Ahan monkey. It's been a decade since a heard it from you. Although I used to hate it but now I am loving it." said Abdullah to which she smiled.

"You know from when I love you?" asked Abdullah.

"No." she replied with a surprising look.

"I don't even know. I just remember that we were best friends back then. Ayesha appi used to tease me and I don't know when I started loving you." said he after pecking lightly on her forehead.

"Really?"

"So I will be coming everyday for our halal date." said Abdullah.

"Everyday?" said Rida with wide eyes.

"Why is there any problem?"

"N..no.." she shyly smiled.

"Will you go to the class tomorrow?" asked Abdullah.

"Haven't thought about it. Will you?"

"Yeah I have to take a Class actually. The nikah was so soon planned, I had already approved my lecture for this week. Had I known it earlier I would have delayed." informed Abdullah.

"There's no problem for me to attend as we aren't living together for now. It will be as a normal day so I will attend too in Sha Allah." Rida replied.

"Okay so I will come and pick you up."

"Umm okay." she felt good that there was someone who was eager to take her to places she was willing to go, without being a burden.

"Why don't you teach amongst men? I mean why do you take girl's classes? I mean there are enough women out there." Rida questioned.

"I take men classes too. Why?"

"The other day I just heard some girls say that you are handsome and stuff."

"So? Are you jealous?"

"Ofcourse not."

"Then?"

"They weren't focusing on the lesson."

"Stop hiding, you were jealous." he said hitting her shoulder with his while she looked away in denial.

And when they looked at each other, their gaze were locked, the keys of which were lost in the heavens.
