Road To Jannah

Chapter 3

Umm_Hurairah

"It is in that which you love the most that you find the greatest tests."

_______

A girl sitting in the corner of the room was indulged in reading a book which gave her goosebumps and made her eyes teary with every following word. The heart was worth melting, for the one who cried his heart out for the ummah and the eyes were worth moistening.

"Appi read this." she said, nudging her sister sitting beside her with her little one, Zaid. Hana had four children Isa and Musa as twins, Asmah as a naughty baby girl followed by Zaid.

"You forgot that you are reading from my book." Hana said proudly as she had already finished the book. Although the children kept her busy but she would never loose a chance to sneak and read the Islamic books which charged up her imaan.

"Huh whatever, but this is just..... I have no words." Rida went speechless and then turned her head to the book.

"By the way where have you reached? Read it out loud, I wouldn't mind listening to it again and again." Hana said with a pout.

Rida picked up her book, the sealed nectar by Safi ur Rahman Al Mubarakpuri of Darussalam publications from her lap, nearer to Hana and pointed out the topic that she was reading which was THE YEAR OF GRIEF.

"I think the most saddest thing to come across while reading the biography of our prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is.... " Rida said with a  wretched heart and stopped for a while.

"Is...?" Hana asked her to continue.

"Is that Abu Talib, the beloved uncle of our beloved prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), did everything to protect his nephew and trusted him blindly but did not give shahadah till his last breath." Rida exclaimed with a pitiable tone.

"Yeah I felt sad about it too, how our prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that he would not stop to beg pardon for him until Allah forbids him and then Allah Subhana Wa ta'ala revealed an Ayah to forbid him." Hana said with twinkling eyes while discussing about Islam.

"Once a disrespectful Quraishite intercepted him and sprinkled sand on his head. When he arrived home, a daughter of his washed the sand away and wept. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not weep, my daughter. Allah will verily protect your father."
And he said: The Quraish did not have an effect on me such as they did after the death of Abu Talib." [Ibn Hisham 1/416].

Rapid succession of misfortunes, led the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to call that period, 'the year of grief and sorrow.' henceforth, that year bore that label.

No longer had Rida started reading for Hana, the kids came barging in the room with chaos.

"Mama we will be late." Isa said jumping on the bed next to his mother.

"There's still an hour left Isa." Hana replied.

"Appi it's better to dress them up early because you know they throw hundreds of tantrums when they get ready." Rida suggested Hana, keeping in mind the little one's wish and also lessening her sister's burden of last minute preparation.

Hammad, Ahmad and Ahmish's families, quite often would plan to take their families out together for picnic. It would entertain their children plus they would be able to keep in touch with each other's families, as having little kids made everyone busy with their own life. Drawing out time once a month for family outing was nevertheless the best idea to uphold the ties of kith and kinship among them.

Soon the door bell rang and everyone was aware that it was time to leave but among all it was Hana who looked more excited than a kid and ran to open the door. Why? Because she knew that behind the door, it was her beloved waiting for her. She opened the door and before he could greet her, she embraced him, making him smile at her gesture.

"Assalamu alaikum the Queen of my Princess." He said snuggling her into a tight hug.

"Walaikum as salam warahmatullahi... " No longer had Hana greeted back, she heard someone greet back "walekum Cham." And that was none other than little Asmah.

Pulling her dad's pant she said "Abbu", raising her hand to Hammad and soon he left his beloved wive's warm hug and picked up his princess in his arms.

"Is my princess ready?" Hammad said kissing her forehead while entering the guest room.

"Yech Abbu but Icha bhaiya hid my sandals and said that I will not go."

"Haha your abbu will give you another pair of sandals." He said while sitting on the sofa.

"Wait Abbu." Asmah said and ran inside making her dad puzzled but this gave him an opportunity to be alone with his beloved.

"I missed you." She said sitting beside him.

"I missed you more." He said grinning at her.

"I missed you to the power of infinity." She replied with a smirk.

"Huh? You had everyone around, your kids, your family and I had no one." he said folding his hands up to his chest.

"But no other person can fill up your space." She said stealing a kiss from her hubby and before he could reply, Asmah came back with a glass of water.

"Abbu you must be tiled (tired)." She handed him a glass of water making them proud as she was learning the etiquettes of deen.

"Jazakillahu khairan." he said to which Asmah tried to reply but eventually failed, making her parents giggle.

Soon everyone left for their destination which was Ahmish's house because it was more nearer to the zoo, which they were heading to.

"So bro how's life going?" Ahmad asked his best friend Hammad.

"Boring without wife and kids." Hammad said cheerlessly looking to the way where his wife was sitting in the car.

"Aww man poor you, they really are our lifeline." He said punching his shoulder lightly.

"I think everyone is settled, we should leave now." Came Ahmish's voice who stood at the door of his car to which both best friends gave a thumbs up sign.

"Enjoy with your wife then, until you are in her company." Ahmad said winking at him before separating from him.

The first car to depart was Ahmish's, which was occupied by his wife Shirana and their three children, Fatima, Ibrahim and Yusuf along with their grandmother i.e. Ahmish and Ayesha's mother.

"Ouch." Ayesha blurted out as Ahmad sat in driver's seat.

"Love are you okay?" Ahmad said keeping his hand over hers with deep concern in his eyes.

"I am okay, it's just your child wants to see this world soon and is kicking me every now and then." She said assuring him and intertwining her hand with his.

"I think our child wants a ride." Ahmad said and buckled his seat belt followed by twisting his car key.

The second car was of Ahmad's, which was occupied by his wife Ayesha, their two kids, Khadija and Mariam along with Hana's twins Isa and Musa.

"Come on everyone has already proceeded!" Hana said enthusiastically.

Hammad tapped his car's steering and then finally spoke "I will proceed on one condition."

"What?"

"Come home soon." He said with a grin to which Rida chuckled and Hana could do nothing but to blush at her poor hubby's gesture.

"Abbu less go." Asmah chided from behind who was settled comfortably beside Rida while Zaid demanded his mother's lap, so, he was in the passenger seat with Hana.

"Let's go Princess." he replied.

But wasn't someone missing?
But who?
Wait is it Abd...

"Wait Wait." Abdullah shouted. Everyone looked his way with an astonished look.

Hammad rolled down the window and Abdullah came to him panting, his breath uneven.

"I thought you were with them." Hammad said seeking for an answer.

"And they forgot me." he said rolling his eyes.

"Oh come sit with us then." Hammad said and Abdullah's eyes wandered from the drivers seat to the back seat where Rida and Asmah were settled.

"Umm..." he started but to his relief Hammad asked Hana to take a seat beside Rida.

"I don't believe they forgot me again." Abdullah uttered fastening his passenger's seat belt.

"Again?"

"Yeah once we went for a wedding party and Ahmish bhai thought I was with Ahmad bhai while Ahmad bhai thought I was with Ahmish bhai. Seriously? They are so much lost in their beloved wives that they forgot me." he paused a little to laugh with Hammad and continued "I think I should bring a wife soon at least she will not leave me alone whilst travelling."

"Haha you better bring her fast or else we will be seen on roads, posting a photo of yours as 'MISSING'." Hammad said and the car echoed with laughter.

"In sha Allah that'll be soon." he said while his gaze fell on the front mirror and he saw Rida looking at him through it but they both looked away within nano seconds of their eye contact.

Astagfirullah Astagfirullah. Lower your gaze Abdullah, it's just a matter of few more days. Abdullah reminded himself.
How can a believer not lower his gaze when he knows that gazing may result into Zina of eyes. Knowing that the zina of the eye is looking, and this should be sufficient to put the believer's lower their gaze.

"Since the drive will last an hour, can I revise the amma juzz. If you people are comfortable with it?" Abdullah asked while he pulled out a pocket Qur'an.

"Yeah sure why will we have problem. In fact I would love to listen to Qur'an. We usually play Tafseer of Qur'an for long routes."
When shaytan cannot make you commit sins, he makes you waste your time.

Abdullah nodded and his melodious voice filled up the car with Qur'anic verses. Soon he reached to surat-ul-a'ala where Rida pointed out his mistake to which, he didn't had the option to do anything other than to smile and correct it.

"By the way I like the last lines of this Surah. What is it? Yeah. 'Nay you prefer the life of this world, Although the hereafter is better and more lasting. Verily,.... Umm... " He paused after narrating the two lines.

"Verily, this is in the former scriptures - the scriptures of Ibrahim and Musa." [87:16-19]. Rida completed the incomplete Qur'anic verses which made his heart warm. He didn't forget the words of his Lord but shaytan played a part in it. Abdullah loved how Rida completed the Quran verses, last time they met and that made him forget the words of Qur'an knowingly. We know this wasn't an act of piousness but shaytan has his ways to slip a believer.

The time passed and finally everyone reached their destination. The excitement among the children reached the peak of the highest mountain. After the car was parked, Abdullah made his way towards Ahmish and Ahmad who were holding their kids in their arms.

"Abdullah why did you abandon us? I know you want to marry her soon but they aren't your relatives yet that you choose them above..." Ahmish exclaimed and Abdullah cut him off with "Walaikum as salam." with a tone of annoyance and both of them burst into fits of laughter.

"But honestly, I thought you were with Ahmish." Ahmad clarified.

"Ammi was with me so I thought Abdullah will give you company." Ahmish protested and in between this Abdullah's eye wandered somewhere else.

"Rida watch out." he shouted as he saw Rida making her way to a puddle of mud but to his dismay it was already too late for her to take heed of his warning. Rida was indulged deep in her mobile and it is that which made her unaware of the scenario around her.

What made her so much indulge in her mobile?

She was waiting for the answer of the last question in the whatsapp group and for the Queen's name to be announced. The answers were out and the new Queen of the group was LiveLikeATraveller. It made her sad that she wasn't the first one to answer correctly but there was something which made her happy, and that was learning something new about our deen.

The newer to the previous question was '8'.

"And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that day, bear the throne of your Lord above them." [Al Haqqah:17].

"Mabrook to the new Queen." she typed before jumping to the next question.

"At the death of which sahaba did the throne of Allah Subhana Wa ta'ala shook?" she hurriedly typed her answer and that's when she splashed her leg into the mud puddle.

"Eww." she cried out.

"lun lun (run run), Lida khala ith dilty (dirty)." Asmah blurted out and all the kids ran away from Rida making every one laugh as Rida gave Asmah a look while she hid behind her mother.

The females walked in a group while the males in other group and some children were with their mothers while some with their fathers.

"By the way I was thinking to visit you soon in sha Allah while you are in your father's house." Ayesha said to Hana as they walked side by side.

"In sha Allah why not, but this time you are revealing it to me beforehand. So... "

"Soooooo what?"

"So is it something important?"

"May be or may be not." Ayesha said without revealing the purpose of her visit.

"Ugh I hate half information." Hana rolled up her eyes.

"I know love, I know." Ayesha laughed.

"Aren't you using too much of this word 'love' nowadays?" Hana raised an eyebrow which made Ayesha roll her eyes this time.

"So how is life going without hubby?" Ayesha questioned.

"Well! I miss him and so does he but I missed my parents too. So I will return after some time to him."

"I know right. Ahmad really misses me too when I take days off for my mums so what we do is that we settle all together in my parents house for a while, I mean Ahmad gives me company there." Ayesha said to her best friend. She had the urge to disclose the matter, she was coming for but she didn't want to miss the opportunity to surprise her. She didn't want to give her this news in such simplicity because after being best friends, they would be relatives after all, which was obviously an extraordinary thing and being happy would plainly be an understatement.
