Road To Jannah

Chapter 20

Umm_Hurairah

"May your character preach more loudly than your words."

______

"It's obviously a yes."

"Reasons?" Rida inquired.

"Whatever questionnaire you made was perfect and he answered them all correctly Alhamdulillah and there's one more reason."

"What?"

"Everytime I looked at him, his gaze was focussed at the ground and not me. I mean a person's gaze speaks a lot about that person's character as you know it's so hard for men to lower their gaze."

Lowering gaze is one of the important etiquettes of Islam. Our eyes are the guide of our heart and thus our eyes wander in the search of the beauty that satisfies the heart. Whoever lets his eyes roam freely without following the orders of Allah, detains his heart to the chains of his own desires. The eyes keep on being exposed to the toxicity which thus becomes dearer to him as to be his master. The slave starts worshipping things just because of the first glance he wasn't in a state to control. The master becomes the slave just because the heart didn't love Allah and so the love wandered around the Haram which Allah has prohibited us from. And so whoever has lowered his gaze has tasted the sweetness of Iman.

Between the eyes and the heart there is a connection which means that the one is affected by the other, and if one of them becomes good, the other will also become good, and if one becomes corrupt the other will become corrupt. If the heart becomes corrupt the gaze will become corrupt, and if the gaze become corrupt the heart will become corrupt, and similarly if one is sound the other will also be sound.
[Ibn Al Qayyim]

"Yes Alhamdulillah, he is a good man." Rida gave her opinion.

"How do you know?"

"I mean he looks like a good man as you have told me."

"Ohh."

"I can't wait to hear his opinion ya Rabbi. I am already swaying away by his lowered gaze. Please pray for me, please do. Pray that he says yes and we set a beautiful journey together till Jannah in sha Allah."

_____

"Please eat on time and also go to the doctor regularly." said Ayesha's mother from the other side of the video call.

"Yes in sha Allah ammi." said Ayesha.

"Ammi you need not worry about her, Ahmad bhai is there to take care of her. He cares about her more than we can." said Abdullah sitting beside his mother while holding the mobile so that they can see each other.

"Yeah we know that Abdullah, now tell us what we do not know." said Ayesha.

"What should I tell?"

"What are planning to give as an answer? Yes or yes?" she inquired wiggling her eyebrow.

"Huh? Your options aren't satisfying me."

"Don't tell me your answer is no? That's not even in the option." asked Ayesha.

"Let's not talk about it right now. How are my kids by the way?" Abdullah asked as he tried to change the topic.

"Is my brother shy of accepting the truth?" Ayesha teased.

"Ayesha when will you grow up? Leave my child alone." said their mother and Abdullah kept his head on the shoulder of his mother out of love.

"Ammi loves me more." said Abdullah as he lolled his tongue out at Ayesha.

"Excuse me? She loves me more because I am the only daughter." said Ayesha by sticking her tongue back at him.

"She loves me more because I am her youngest child."

______

"I am so happy to know that you're expecting. It'll be so fun to have a little one in my arms." Nikita said hugging Ayesha softly.

"Alhamdulillah when he takes something from us, he also gives us in return. All we have to be is patient." said Ayesha smiling back at her.

"Yes God's blessings are infinite."

"I am sorry if you felt bad what I said that day. I do not know what I said wrong but I felt that my words hurt you in some or the other way." expressed Ayesha looking deep into the eyes of Nikita. Ayesha had no idea about the deep wound which Nikita hid behind but the scars of her face showed her pain.

"It's okay you do not know what I've gone through." said Nikita as she turned away to face the opposite side of Ayesha.

"It's okay if you aren't comfortable, we can talk later." said Ayesha as she respected her private life. She knew that giving space in a relationship is one of the most important aspect which secure the relation to a longer period of time. When a relation is provoked and urged to do which they aren't willing to, it leads to suffocation where breathing becomes impossible and thus breaching it apart leading to the death of the bond.

"No wait." said Nikita as she turned to hold the hand of Ayesha while she moved forward to leave Nikita's place.

"You have all the rights to know about me as you are my friend. I cannot blame you for hurting me when you don't even know my entire background." said Nikita as she made Ayesha sit on the couch and sat in one which was in the front.

"Umm okay if you want to." said Ayesha.

"I cannot be a part of the religion which you adhere. I can never do it even though I attract towards it positively." said Nikita.

"Why?"

"Remember I've told you that I've never had a Muslim friend? That's because I have vowed not to even go around the people who belong to the same religion which is yours but then I met you. Even though I refrained myself every time I saw you, I was still attracted to you. I don't know there's something in you and your family which attracts me naturally. Everytime my legs walked towards the door of your house, I've cursed them. Every time I've grown positively towards you, I've mentally admonished myself. My demons have fought everyday with the angels who were with you but at last it was your angelic side which won. These things were before I've met your family because after meeting them I was all yours, you people are the best ones on earth I've ever met. I thought Muslims were only destined to be born for jihad and were just transgressors but after I met you people, my idea of the Muslim's image changed completely. You people really did represent me a different perspective of Muslims which I wasn't aware of."

"But why do you run away from Muslims?" Ayesha inquired.

"It's because.." Nikita let out a deep breath and then said "remember I've told you about my family background? That my parents were divorced?"

"Yeah?"

"I hid something about it."

"And what did you hide?" Ayesha asked, hiding her curiosity level.

"Well! My parents were divorced because my father converted to Islam. " announced Nikita to which Ayesha's mouth drop open.

"Woah..I mean..why..how?" Ayesha said clearing her throat.

"I don't know about the details how he became one of the Muslims, but all I know is that it was the sole reason why my parents were divorced. We were once a happy family until the day my father converted to your religion. I either don't know the details of their fighting but I only remember them raising their voices at each other until they decided to separate. My childhood ruined just because of this religion. My parents separated just because of this religion.  My mother had cried several nights just because of this religion. I was thankful that my mother never let him take me with him or else I would have devastated. He had tried all the possible ways to get me but he couldn't. He had left nothing but the scars in our heart which were deeply engraved in our hearts. Even after he was married to some Muslim, he still used to come to meet me until we migrated without informing anyone and until now I haven't seen him or heard about him and.. And neither do I want to." affirmed Nikita.

"For the sake of your peace, meet him once Nik. May be he has a story to narrate? May be you have just heard your mother's side story and not his? May be he still loves you and is searching for you?"

"Please do not scratch my past scars which have taken ages to heal. I am at peace by not talking about it rather than searching about it." Nikita said furiously.

"Okay I am sorry we'll not talk about it ever. Alhamdulillah that after taking a vow you still gave me a place in your heart."

"It's because your good character."

It's a shame that we Muslim forget that our character serves as the greatest factor which call people towards Islam. We are not just representing ourselves but by our character we are representing Islam. Lying, backbiting, breaking of trusts and covenants, fighting, abusing are so common these days that even Muslims have forgotten that these are not only Haram but repels every human being. The prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) earned the trust of people up-to forty years and then when each of the Arab people were satisfied about the good character of the prophet and knew that he had never lied amongst his people, then did Allah subhana wa ta'ala send down the divine revelation at the right time. The first and foremost factor by which a non believer should be called is our character. When a person knows your eloquent character, they know that you can never lie. They'll ponder upon your thoughts except those whom Allah does not will to guide.
