Road To Jannah

Chapter 16

Umm_Hurairah

"I hope we all give our kids a childhood they don't have to heal from."

______

A crowd where dealings were the main purpose of their daily life, there stood two women who were heavily loaded with shopping bags. One of the two knew how Allah hates this market place and she kept her tongue moist whenever her brain functioned in the right way and took it to the thoughts of her beloved Lord. Allah does not hate the market place because the market place includes buying and selling but because everyday people swear and give false oaths just because of trade. A believer can be everything except a liar and swearing while lying would be the most hateful act in the sight of our creator.

"Woe to those that deal in fraud, those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure. But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due." [83:1-3].

Allah’s believing servants are people who engage in buying and selling. However, they do not let their commerce distract them from the remembrance of Allah. There is harmony between the rights of this world and the rights of the Hereafter.

“And do not forget your share of the worldly life.” [Sûrah al-Qasas: 77].

Ayesha had offered her middle salah in the mosque located in the midst of the market place. How blessed would be that believer who had build this mosque where remembering Allah was so important, where reminding oneself with the admonishes was the need of the hour. And cherry on top of the cake was that the mosque had the women place. Market is the second home of women after all women and shopping are inseparable and so the need to have women place to pray in the mosque should be made mandatory.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The most beloved places on Earth to Allah are its mosques, and the most despised places on Earth to Allah are its markets.” [Sahîh Muslim].

"Astagfirullah Astagfirullah Astagfirullah." Ayesha murmured under her breath. She had the habit of starting with seeking forgiveness and then moving on to the next one when she was satisfied with the fact that she had asked enough forgiveness for her sins. A scholar once said that if there is a cloth which is dirty then the owner of the cloth will aim at cleansing the cloth or be keen at perfuming the cloth.

Obviously the former is executed first followed by the latter and so is the case of a believer who is also a sinner.

“Truly, Allah loves those who repent, and He loves those who cleanse themselves.” (Quran, 2:222)

"Ayesha, see this." Nikita said pointing to a light brown coloured shawl.

"Yeah this one seems sober one and Ammi will like it in sha Allah." said Ayesha and indicated the shopkeeper to pack it.

"Nikita seriously this wasn't needed. We all love you the way you are, without any gifts. You've spent so much on these gifts."

"Tenth."

"What?"

"It's the tenth time you are telling me this. And I am replying you again. I love to give gifts especially to the people I love and in such a less number of days they have taken my heart. I don't have any family but after meeting your family, I don't use such words and it feels like yes I do have a family. So can't I just buy little gifts for them when they are going away taking a part of me. At least they'll remember me whenever they use my gifts."

"But they'll remember you even without gifts Nikita."

"That's all. I am not listening anything.  Let's go." said she while picking up the bag from the counter after the payment.

More than a week has passed since Ayesha's family was here and Nikita has made places in everyone's heart as if they had known each other from years. Nikita was alone and she yearned for the love of a family. She had never disclosed about her family except the fact that she only lived with her mother who passed away some time ago. Nobody had ever questioned where was her actual home or where was her father.

As they walked out, Nikita leading while Ayesha behind her, she stopped mid way at the entrance of the shop causing Ayesha to collide against her.

"What happened? " Ayesha asked as she came forward asking her the reason of her halt.

As she came forward she witnessed a crowd of boys standing and discussing about something.

"Boys please let this sister go." a boy from a the crowd spoke loudly as he observed Ayesha standing before them. At once the men excused themselves to let them go.

"Why do I always see that the men respect you and call you sister?" asked Nikita as she came forward towards Ayesha admist the crowd.

"I was once like you and you know one thing that elevated my rank in the eyes of people especially men."

"And what is it?" she asked with curiosity.

"My niqab."

"Really?" Nikita gasped at her answer.

"Yeah, first I was not keen on wearing even hijab but something happened and it changed me and the day I started wearing hijab, I felt so much honoured. When I walk on roads I experience no lustful glances from males even though I observe my friends getting one who are without hijab or not modestly dressed." Ayesha answered her proudly with a grateful smile.

"I always thought it's an oppression to the Muslim women who are forced to wear this until I met you. Actually I never had muslim friends, you are the first one." said Nikita.

"Although you will only know it's value when you experience it."

"Really? Let's buy one. I'll also surprise ammi and Shirana bhabhi." said Nikita making Ayesha halt at her place consuming in what she had just expressed.

_____

As Nikita parked her Scooty and followed Ayesha after taking some handful of bags entered the land of Ayesha's house, she came forward and was hit by something heavy which rained from the sky. Before she could see what was the very thing which hit her, she collided with a person which disbalanced her legs and her bags were on the ground in seconds.

"I am so sorry." said Abdullah as he realised that he had collided with a woman while catching the ball.

"It's okay." she said after balancing her and he ran away after handing her the bags.

Everyone had an eagle eye set at her identity before Ayesha interrupted. "Are you okay Nik?"

On the realisation of her identity, every kid went running towards her. The men and the children of the house were busy playing cricket until these walked in and now it seemed like every child has forgotten what they had been doing. If she was given the title of a heart capturer then that wouldn't be a percent wrong.

Upon watching the interaction between the children and Nikita, Abdullah's heart took him there where he wasn't willing to go. RIDA.

She had been same with these children, they would run to her when she appeared.

Sabr ya abd, it's toxic to even think about her. She now belongs to someone else.

He had tried his best to forget Rida but everytime he did, some incident would lead his memories to her. Ayesha had tried to convince him to marry soon but to her dismay he wasn't ready.

"Abdullah why are you doing this to yourself?" Ayesha questioned on a serious tone.

"What am I doing appi?"

"Just move on. We'll see someone for you of your choice and then you can marry her."

"But I need time appi. I won't deny to marry but at least I am not marrying until the next two years."

"Two years? That's too much my little bro. Trust me you'll feel okay when you have taken a decision to marry."

"But appi... "

"No buts and no ifs. I am asking ammi to select a girl for you."

He had tried his best to ignore this topic but Ayesha was too concerned with this. She didn't let him escape the reality when he was running from it. She had forcefully brought the topic of marriage to be discussed with him. On the other hand he was not willing to bring it up because forgetting the first love was not an easy task but he is Al Jabbar, who mend the broken hearts and fix it accordingly.

After an hour, it was time for them to leave. They had enjoyed to their fullest from going picnics to playing cricket and badminton, from swimming to visit other places.
No wonder why Nikita had been drawn closer to them and the children. After exchanging gifts and hugging each other, it was time to leave promising each other to meet again if Allah wills. Nikita was invited as their guest and she was keen on visiting them soon. Sometimes people meet and make places in eachother's hearts so quickly and sometimes people after living years with each other, desert each other as if they have never known that person.

Ahmad had gone to drop them along with Khadija as his companion. Ayesha and Nikita came back after bidding farewell.

"You know why I love your family so much?" Nikita broke the silence as they entered the drawing room.

"Why?"

"It's because I've grown up in a broken family." said Nikita as Ayesha's heart constricted at the work 'broken'.
Broken marriage had so much weight that it's mention itself rips the heart apart especially when there is a child who suffers. One of the most helpless child is the one who had been a part of a broken family where he had to choose between his mother and father. It's true that divorce separates two hearts who didn't belong to each other but what about the heart which was made of these two hearts?
The wife and husband separates taking away their respective hearts but the child? He lives with a broken heart all his life.

"I was eight years old when my parents separated and I had to choose one. I was fed up with the fights especially at night when I went to sleep. They thought I couldn't hear them but everyday their words pierced through my heart. I would sleep with a pillow which used to be soaked in tears." Nikita said as she looked up to stop her falling tears and then continued "I hate that man who left my mother. He tried to take me with him but my mother fought for me. I had vowed that I would never marry because marriage seems ideal relationship to them who have grown up seeking the love of their father and mother altogether without sorrows. I know there are ideal marriages but what if I go through the one mom has gone through. What if I have a child who turns out to be another Nikita? I can't do this to my child. I love children, I would never want to destroy his childhood." she halted as her voice cracked, wiping off her falling tears.

"You have grown in such an ideal family Ayesha, they are so good and I have never got so much love. This is the reason why I love them so much. You should be so much thankful that you never got to experience a broken family because it destroys us, it destroys emotio..." she stopped midway as it pained to speak further. Ayesha embraced her patting her back with remorse. It was the first time Nikita had exposed something from her past.

_____

"Did you see how Nikita was wearing a Niqab?" Ayesha asked.

"Yeah." said Ahmad as he pulled out his wrist watch from his hand and kept it on the table.

"I was thinking to take her towards Islam and may be one day she'll convert?"

"That's a good idea, but remember not to debate arrogantly with her and also if she doesn't revert then do not be disheartened for Allah guides people whom He wills." Ahmad said and went towards the washroom to do wudu.

Ayesha opened her mobile to see the answer of the last question.

Khadijah (radi Allahu Anha), the prophet's (PBUH) spouse, the mother of believers was the first to enter the fold of Islam followed by his freed slave Zaid bin Harithah bin sharahil Al Kalbi (radi Allahu Anhu), his cousin Ali bin Abi Talib (radi Allahu Anhu), who had been living with him since his early childhood, and next came his intimate friend Abu Bakr As Siddiq (radi Allahu Anhu).
